The Commandeure Distillery is a tribute to the legendary captains from the island of Föhr, who were important figures in international seafaring between the 17th and 19th centuries.

From the sea back to the island
Pioneers and Guardians of the Community
Growing up in the community and with the traditions of the island, the Föhr commanders were pioneers on the high seas and important contributors to Dutch, Danish and Hanseatic shipping.
After a fulfilling life at sea, they often returned to Föhr for a second career, where they continued to serve the community.
